REVISED EDUCATION PARTNERS NEWSLETTER

Education Partners,

Today's original Education Partners newsletter sent about an hour ago featured a picture of several students playing basketball wearing facemasks below their noses.

In hindsight we shouldn't have used that picture since the masks are not being worn properly.

Please accept our sincere apologies for the conflicting and confusing image and message.

This Week's Highlights

SPECIAL MESSAGES:

RETURNING TO SCHOOL THIS FALL

  • The Board of Education voted 4-2 on July 27, 2020 to approve the administration’s “Return ‘20” proposed plan to start school on August 31st with remote learning, and return to in-person learning as soon as it is safe to do so.

Families will start to get more detail soon from their home schools.

REGULAR INFORMATION

  • District 202 will continue to provide free food services to children under 18 years old through August 26th.
  • It’s more important than ever to complete your 2020 Census for one very good reason: Will County’s share of federal funds (including those for schools) depend on our participation!  Please complete the 2020 Census. It is easy and quick:

Households should have received a letter with a personalized, 12-digit Census ID code earlier this spring.

Go to http://my2020census.gov, use that code to sign in, and you’re all set!

Census data help determine our legislative representation in Congress and our share of $675 billion in federal funding.

Remember, COUNT EVERYONE, BECAUSE EVERYONE COUNTS.

Thank you in advance for doing your part!

District 202 congratulates the Class of 2020 at Plainfield High School-Central Campus, and Plainfield South, North and East high schools.

Traditional early-May graduation ceremonies were cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, each high school held a drive-through graduation event on July 17 and 18, 2020 to honor their graduating seniors. Students received their diplomas and got photos of the momentous occasion in cap and gown.

To view virtual graduation videos for each District 202 high school, visit www.psd202.org/page/graduation-2020

These videos feature graduation speeches from administrators, Board of Education members and students, and other tributes to the Class of 2020.

All of District 202 wishes these seniors all the best in their futures.
Congratulations to the Class of 2020.

facebook image from facebook Plainfield – District 202 students will start the 2020-21 school year with remote learning on August 31, 2020 but could return to in-person learning later this fall if COVID-19 conditions allow, under a proposal approved Monday. The District 202 Board of Education voted 4-2 to approve a slightly-amended version of the administration’s “Return ‘20” proposed plan to reopen schools this fall. The approval comes a week after the original version failed by a 3-3 vote. Board member Robert Smith voted for the amended proposal Monday. Board Secretary David Koch and member Dr. Michael Robey voted against the amended proposal again. Board President Kevin Kirberg, Vice President Rod Westfall and member Heather Drake supported the amended plan. The amended plan responds to more than 2,300 comments from thousands of parents, staff, students, staff, administrators, and Board members received since July 15, 2020 when the Board received the original proposal at a special Committee of the Whole meeting. The Board voted 3-3 shared the district’s original proposal at its July 20, 2020 regular meeting. District 202 Superintendent Dr. Lane Abrell stressed that both versions of the reopening plan prioritize the safety and well-being of District 202 students, families, and staff.
