Athletic Training &
Sports Medicine Program

Plainfield South High School’s Sports Medicine Program was instated to over see the medical attention of its athletes.  The sports medicine team is made up of many professionals who use their area of expertise to enhance performance of sports participants.  Of all these individuals the orthopedic physician, athletic trainer and coach has the closest relationship with the athlete.

The sports medicine staff concerns themselves with all aspects of the student athlete.  They care for health and nutrition concerns, pre-season, in-season, and post-season workouts, structural deficiencies, as well as social well being.  To provide this exceptional care, the sports medicine team extends beyond the orthopedic physician, athletic trainer and coach to include dentists, ophthalmologist, podiatrists, psychologists, physical therapists, strength and conditioning specialists, nurses, emergency medical technicians, nutritionists as well as the school’s athletic directors and principal.
