Milen was one of 11 District 202 teachers awarded the 2024 Professional Development Grant from the Foundation.

Through the grant, Milen was able to attend the Texas Computer Education Association Elementary Technology Conference in Texas.

“It was an amazing experience,” Milen said.

“Not only did I learn a lot, but it was a valuable experience to learn from others outside of Illinois,” she added.

The award was created to help pay for special summer professional growth programs that support innovative teaching.

“I am so incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity,” Milen said.

“The Foundation understands that money for continuing professional study and growth can be hard to find,” said Foundation for Excellence Vice Chairman Matthew Starr. “We are proud to help our teachers continue to be lifelong learners.”
