Plainfield North High School has been nationally recognized as an AP Honor Roll school.
PNHS is honored with the Bronze with Access level by the College Board, the group that oversees high school advanced placement courses and testing.
The AP School Honor Roll, which replaces the previous AP District Honor Roll, offers schools recognition across four levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.
The AP Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs deliver wide-reaching results for their students.
Schools also may earn the AP Access Award level honoring schools that demonstrate clear and effective commitment to equitable access to advanced coursework.
Schools must be in the United States including U.S. territories or Canada and meet the following criteria to qualify:
- Forty percent or more of the graduating cohort took at least one AP exam during high school;
- Twenty-five percent or more of the graduating cohort scored a 3 or higher on at least one AP exam during high school;
- Two percent or more the of graduating cohort took five or more AP exams during high school.
Dr. Kate Morris, District 202 Director of High School Curriculum and Instruction, credited the honor to the school, students, and its AP teachers.
“Plainfield North High School teachers spend countless hours providing engaging instruction and frequent feedback to best help students and prepare them for the exams in the spring,” she said.
“It also speaks volumes of the hard work and time the students put forth to prepare and learn the course material to prepare for the exams.”
Stan Bertoni, PNHS Associate Principal for Curriculum and Instruction, echoed those sentiments.
“Being recognized by the College Board is a testament to the collective efforts and commitment by our students and staff,” he said.
“This award continues to demonstrate that by encouraging and supporting all of our students in Advanced Placement classes they can be successful.”
