Plainfield East High School senior Frida Mora Garcia is one of 558 semifinalists for the 2024 Cooke College Scholarship Program funded by the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation.
Finalists will be announced in April. Garcia is one of 32 scholars selected from Illinois.
The highly competitive program gives scholars as much as $55,000 per year to pursue a bachelor’s degree at any accredited undergraduate institution.
These semifinalists were selected from the largest pool of applicants the foundation has received to date.
Scholars are chosen based on exceptional academic ability and achievement, financial need, persistence, service to others, and leadership.
Students from more than 3,800 high schools in all 50 states applied for the scholarship.
