Superintendent of Schools Dr. Glenn Wood sits at his desk

The District 202 Board of Education approved a new five-year contract for     Superintendent of Schools Dr. Glenn Wood at its meeting on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.

Wood’s annual base salary for the 2024-2025 contract year will be $246,671.00, with a 4 percent annual increase. His new contract ends in June 2029.

Rod Westfall, president of the Board of Education, said the board is excited about the district’s future with Wood’s continued leadership.

“As we begin teacher contract negotiations this fall, the school board felt comfortable extending Dr. Wood a five-year contract based on the market standard, past performance, and completion of the Strategic Plan,” Westfall said.

Wood became the district’s 20th Superintendent in 2022 with the retirement of Superintendent Dr. Lane Abrell.

Wood came to District 202 in 2009 as High School Curriculum Director after serving as high school principal at Victor J. Andrew High School in District 230.

He spent 10 years as a high school teacher and coach at Amos Alonzo Stagg High School in Palos Hills before entering administration.

Wood served as District 202’s Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction for nine years before being named Associate Superintendent in 2021.

Wood said he is honored to continue his work with the Board of Education to serve students and meet community needs.

“I can’t believe 31 years in education have flown by so fast, and I look forward to finishing my career in District 202 and supporting the transition of the next superintendent,” he said.

“I will continue to strive to meet my evaluation goals directly connected to the Strategic Plan, look forward to settling Association of Plainfield Teachers negotiations, and developing a transition plan at the end of my career,” Wood said.

“I am so grateful for the confidence that the Board of Education has shown in our district administration and me to build off our first three years together. I look forward to finishing my career in Plainfield and doing great things together in the next few years.”
