Plainfield North High School senior Jessica Kovalcik successfully defended her IHSA state title and is a two-time state champion! We will welcome her home tonight with a parade through downtown Plainfield beginning around 5-5:30 p.m. The champ will be escorted by Plainfield Police down Lockport Street to Van Dyke Road, then to Plainfield North. Come line the streets to welcome her back! #202proud

The Board of Education recognized the Plainfield North High School girls' golf team at its meeting Wednesday. The team is the first to go to state. The board also welcomed National Honor Society members from Plainfield High School-Central Campus. It's always nice to see students involved outside the classroom. #202proud

Last week, Central Elementary School planted a tree in memory of Wadea Alfayoumi, who was killed a year ago at his home. The six-year-old attended Bonnie McBeth Early Learning Center and Central Elementary. The whole school and Wadee’s teachers from Bonnie McBeth helped plant the tree in the back of the school. #202proud
Congratulations to the Plainfield South High School Marching Cougars for winning second place in Class AA and Best Auxiliary on October 12 in the Naperville Central Marching Band Classic. Eight bands competed in the event. #202proud

Two Ridge Elementary School students recently won a ride to school in a Joliet Fire Department fire truck. The students raised the most donations for the school's Color Run Fundraiser to earn the truck ride.

Students in the BASES program at Ridge Elementary School helped at the Plainfield Public Library by reshelving books, sorting and putting away games and puzzles.
But it wasn't all community service work for these helpers - a librarian also read a few books to the group.
